# Why you shouldn't drop your MBP

When I was racing around between work and the Hospital, in the days just after Asher was born, I inadvertently dropped my [MBP](https://jeepmonkey.com/2009/11/14/diy-mac-book-pro-stand/). In my haste to get into my car I bumped the bag, and the strap slid off my shoulder followed by a fairly solid thud. Fortunately it was in it’s [Crumpler](https://www.crumpler.com.au/) ‘the Part and Parcel’ bag, and the drop was only a few inches, but enough to do some damage. The aluminum casing bends, which is better I guess than snapping or shattering.

End result is the case was pushed in a bit, squeezing out the USB port on the power side, there would have been tears if there was more damage than that!

Thankfully it functions normally.
