After a couple of years of hosting my sites with various service providers I decided that I would try hosting them from my home server. One of the main factors is that it works out to be a fair amount cheaper, another was that I thought that it would a bit educational. I figured that my home server was on all the time so why not.

There is a stack of information out there on how to do it, so I won’t waste my time by rehashing.

The setup at as follows;

- Windows 2003 Server

    - 1740 HighPoint RocketRAID Card with 4 x 640GB WD in RAID 5
- Dynamic DNS – [http://www.dyndns.com/ ](http://www.dyndns.com/)
- Web Server – [Apache 2](http://httpd.apache.org/)
- Mail Server – [hMailServer](http://www.hmailserver.com/)
- FTP Server – Trying [FileZilla](http://filezilla-project.org/) but not convinced yet so may change
- Torrent – [µTorrent](http://www.utorrent.com/) – with [web](https://jeepmonkey.com:13314/gui/) client
- PHP 5
- MYSQL 5
- WordPress
